Savuti is renowned for its large elephant herds, powerful lion prides, hyenas, leopards, and dramatic predator interactions. The open plains and marsh areas provide excellent opportunities for wildlife photography. The Savuti Channel is unique in that it can remain dry for many years—sometimes between 15 and 30 years—before flowing again. To support wildlife during these dry periods, the Botswana Government has introduced artificial waterholes to ensure the survival of animals in the area. During such times, game drives are often centered around these waterholes, where predators and prey alike gather, creating remarkable opportunities for sightings and photography.
