Welcome to Pioneer Safaris Tours

Pioneer Safaris Tours was established in 2017 in Maun, Botswana. It was founded by two men who share a deep love for the bush, flora, and fauna. We have explored different parts of the world, and our mission is to take you into the wilderness for an authentic African experience under Pioneer Safaris Tours, where you can enjoy and learn essential bush skills. Both founders of Pioneer Safaris Tours hold relevant skills and certifications for the job, including guiding and photography.

Optional safari / specialty safari packages

Description:
For optional safaris, guests have full control over the type of safari they wish to do (e.g., semi-participation or tented luxury safari). Once they choose, we provide the pricing based on their selection. If the option is a tented luxury safari, our team handles everything on behalf of the guests.

All cooking, cleaning, and other camp chores are managed by our dedicated team, which includes one guide, one camp assistant, and a backup driver. If guests require a French or German translator/interpreter, additional charges will apply.

For the semi-participation safari option, guests are expected to set up and pack their own tents and assist with loading and unloading their luggage. They also help with cooking, cleaning, and other camp duties, alongside our safari team (which includes one guide and one chef on selected departures).

Equipment and Services:

  • 3m x 3m x 1.95m bow tents (shared; single tents available on request – extra charges apply)
  • A 5cm high-density foam mattress per guest (extra mattress on request – extra charges apply)
  • Sleeping bags and pillows, or blankets or duvets are provided

Note: We mostly camp in wild areas, parks, and game reserves that are completely wild and unfenced, with no facilities. Our team sets up a full camp, which includes:

  • Shared bush toilets and bush showers
  • A mobile kitchen and dining area

Vehicles:

All transfers and game drives are conducted in our custom-built safari vehicles. These vehicles include:

  • Side flaps that can be lowered in chilly, rainy, or windy weather
  • Foldable windshields for optimal wildlife viewing
  • Two front-row seats parallel to each other, with a fridge in between
  • Three middle-row seats and three back-row seats (total seating capacity at the back: 8 pax)
  • A power point for charging camera batteries
  • Open communication between the driver-guide and passengers for an immersive learning experience in the wild

Note: Pricing varies depending on the number of days, number of guests, and the type of safari.

Accommodation in Lodges:
We offer travelers the opportunity to explore the most breathtaking wilderness areas of Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. Guests enjoy the comfort of permanent camps and lodges, while being guided from beginning to end by our passionate safari guides.

We offer two exciting lodge-to-lodge mobile safari itineraries, rated at a 3-star level, with a wide range of activities. Transfers between lodges are done in comfortable, air-conditioned minibuses and, depending on the itinerary, in open game drive vehicles. Activities are conducted using the lodges’ own vehicles, boats, and mokoros (traditional dugout canoes).

Day Trip Activities:
Please note: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance, as these activities are offered by third-party providers.

  • Mokoro overnight trip
  • Mokoro day trip
  • Boat cruise (minimum 3 hours)
  • Overnight boat cruise
